Dr. Hussein Bagha, a consultant physician and nephrologist, spoke at the annual Kenya Renal Association Congress in Mombasa, Kenya, in September 2023. His focus was on the link between hypertension (high blood pressure) and chronic kidney disease
He emphasized that hypertension is a major cause of CKD, which itself is a significant health concern. He highlighted that CKD is currently the tenth leading cause of death in Kenya, and is expected to become even more prevalent, rising to the eighth leading cause of mortality.
