Sakina finally gets her transplant done after a long wait in search for a suitable donor
The then 21 year-old Sakina Mohammed from Mombasa had been ailing for a while despite there being no symptoms that could suggest kidney failure
Sakina's mother, Tabasam Bano, notes that at first Sakina started breathing heavily and this is what prompted them to visit a hospital, only to be diagnosed with hypertension. A kidney test showed that both her kidneys had already failed, and needed to be started on dialysis, which she promptly did
She finally had her successful kidney transplant on August 1, 2021 after being on dialysis for close to a year
Sakina is grateful to Dr. Hussein Bagha for walking with her through her kidney transplant journey and is happy to have made a full recovery and resumed her normal life in Mombasa.
